| | New Marriott Timeshare Buyers - Timeshare Savvy & Many Referred According to Ed Kinney of Marriott Vacation Club, " Customers arriving recently are more educated about the timeshare product and the timeshare industry than they used to be". Also mentioned was the fact that many new timeshare buyers come by referral rather than promotional means, which is a definite change than the way buyers used to be attracted.
If you are a timeshare owner, tell us how you were attracted to the timeshare presentation. Was it by promotional means, referral or another way?

| | Further Confirmation of BOOMING Timeshare Sales
The AIF annual benchmark study by PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) of the financial performance of the timeshare industry released today by the ARDA International Foundation ( AIF) underscores the ongoing, robust financial performance of the multibillion dollar vacation ownership industry. The study, which focused on an industry subset of 40 companies encompassing 298 timeshare resorts in active sales1, showed key financial ratios such as sales and marketing costs remained in-line as companies posted 14.3 percent growth in 2006. Each year, PwC surveys a group of timeshare resort development companies to take the industry’s financial pulse—analyzing industry trends and setting benchmarks on product pricing, sales, marketing costs, financing, and other financial indicators. This year’s findings reveal a 14.3 percent year-over-year increase in net sales of timeshare resorts in active sales, as the industry subset reported $5.8 billion in U.S. net originated sales. Average net sales per active resort were $19.6 million.

| | Real Estate Broker... Maybe I Should Sell Timeshare Wow, I'm a Realtor and have been struggling slightly as the real estate market is at a 10 year low and all the foreclosures and I could go on and on....but, I read similar articles about the timeshare industry and with timeshare sales soaring perhaps I consider selling timeshare at one of the many resorts near my home in Orlando. Actually, I have too much time invested in my trade, but it really surprises me how well this timeshare thing is going. Now, most of the articles I read refer to sales at the resort, but I've got to think that it has to spill into the secondary market to some degree or it will sometime down the road when these new buyers decide to sell. Don't you think? I don't own a timeshare, but I love to vacation and like the idea of renting one, which I never considered. Anyone here rented? How was the experience?.....I dread the timeshare sales tour. |

| | Rent Timeshare? - Buy timeshare? Tolerate Sales Presentation I have rented, owned, sold and bought again. Round and round. Love to travel and we vacation 3 weeks per year. I advise starting with the rental thing-- Perhaps thru a company like this. Take the tour and tolerate it. Be strong and explain your Realtor background, it may help with the pressure???
Bottom line is the timeshare presentation is usually unavoidable and high pressure. Hence my situation. But, we love the timeshare we bought, which is Marriott by the way and use it to it's full advantage!
Resale is the way to go, I know that now-- Wish I did then. No salesmen and big-time discounts-- Just take a look!
Bye! |

| | Renting Timeshare Sounds Good Thanks for the input and advice. I may try to rent a timeshare for our spring break vacation. How soon should I begin making plans. I have a travel agent I usually use, but she has never offered the renting of a timeshare. My wife usually works with the travel agent, so I'll have to explain the timeshare rental option to her and have her make the arrangements. |
