Timeshares Resales Booming - Timeshare Sales Up Despite Economy

The following is from a recent article published by Timeshares Daily, which reports on timeshare industry insights, news and statistics.

Quote:
While many areas of the economy are taking a beating, timeshare sales and timeshare resales are strong. In a study released last week by the American Resort Development Association (ARDA), research prepared by Ernst & Young, LLP, shows that sales of new timeshares increased by 6 percent in 2007 over the previous year, totaling $10.6 billion in the US alone. Although gains were less than in previous years, the sale of new timeshare from 2003 to 2007 has increased by an amazing 66 percent.
And...

Quote:
Information on the numbers of people buying resale timeshare is limited because the secondary market includes individual timeshare owner transactions as well as sales consummated by traditional industry specialists. In 2005, 7.2 percent of buyers bought timeshare from an existing owner, according to an ARDA profile of vacation owners. While this indicates a resale industry in the hundreds of millions of dollars, these figures are very conservative, as the survey did not include alternative sales methods such as the Internet.
This year alone Timeshare Adventures, which provides advertising, marketing, and closing services for timeshare owners who wish to sell or rent their timeshares or vacation club memberships, has generated over $33 Million in offers to rent and buy as of August 2008.

Default I need a timesharing vacation...

I think when things get bad, like the current economy, people want some relief. They find it in the form of an affordable timeshare resale or even a simple timeshare rental. Timeshare rentals and resales are very affordable. They provide a home away from home with all the amenties you need such as a full kitchen so you can save some money by not taking your family of four out to dinner.

Default timeshare or internet travel deals?

I am deal finder and was wondering how renting a timeshare to vacation compares to all the great travel deals available on the internet? Or buying timeshares?

It sounds good, but there are so many other deals for vacations out there and I want the best value and a great place. I want to consider airfare, room rates, food and excursions.

Sell me on this timeshare thing. I want to to save money on vacationing.

Default Timeshare Savings & Benefits

Hi bigbrother,

Great question.

The savings you seek vacationing can be found here! This is timeshare resale and there are plenty of owners offering their timeshare resort properties for rent and/or for sale at substantial saving versus what would be paid through the resort directly. This money you can save on condominium-type timeshare accommodations can offset the airfare and other vacation expensed required to enjoy your time.

I think most timeshare vacationers enjoy the spacious luxury a timeshare unit can offer, but there many other benefits to a timeshare vacation. Most of these have been cited throughout this forum, but heres a quick list of the most notable and shared opinions on the perks of timesharing and the cost effective vacation experience they offer:
  • Reduce or eliminate the variance regarding hotel room availability, ever changing room costs due to season, and local events.
  • Spacious units with separate living and sleeping quarters combined with fully functional kitchens provide the comforts of home plus the option to prepare meals rather than dine-out at meal time, which can save you a considerable amount of money.
  • Many timeshare resort ownership packages include discounts on golf, rental cars, dining and excursions.

I could elaborate further, but I'll leave this open to our forum visitors. I sure they can provide more support of the various savings expected when timesharing.

Default Timeshare Value

I was the same. Wanting the very best deal in every part of life and what I learned about the vacation savings venture is that I spent more time looking thru the web in search of deals on hotels, rental cars and the like. The time spent didn't match the value I sought, IMO.

I found a deal in my vacation search and it was to buy a timeshare from an owner selling theirs. I saved a ton and now I pay only the yearly resort dues[about $700]. It's a big one bedroom suite and much better that a price-comparable hotel room. There are smaller timeshare trading companies that work out better for me than RCI to trade my timeshare week and some are free or very cheap!

I did the math and spent the time and all things considered timeshares if done right are the best value.

Default Disney Timeshares Packed

We have a Disney points timeshare at Orlando and they are always packed with people on vacation, and visiting the theme parks. My husband and I just spoke about how many people continue to do the family vacation even though the economy is slow. It sure doesn't appear this way for Disney!
