Default Selling timeshare getting offers, but.....

It's been a couple of months since I decided to sell my timeshare and because of the amount I owe I have been unable to accept the offers I've received or get the buyer to offer me what I need to escape the darn thing. I tolerated the sales pitch at the resort when I bought it and it seemed like a good idea at the time- based on my financial situation then, but now the monthly payments and maintenance fees have become a burden because of job change(less money, but also much less job related stress). My new position does not allow me to use the timeshare for the week I'm deeded and planning ahead to exchange the timeshare week with RCI has yet to work-out.

I put-up little or no "fight" when I purchased the timeshare, so they got me to buy into their deal at top dollar, I think. So, I continue to pay the monthly bills, high interest rate and annual maintenance fees while advertising the timeshare to be sold. I bailed on RCI because it just never seems to work and am willing to accept whatever I owe to sell. I'm guessing there are others in my situation-- Any advice?

Default lots of timeshare sellers in same situation

hi Tink-

there are many timeshare sellers that are in the same situation as you. What I did and recommend for you is to payoff the timeshare loan with a low interest credit card or some type of personal loan that have a lower interest rate than whatever you're paying now, if you are able. These timeshare lenders that the resorts work with charge ridiculous interest rates and if you keep paying it you will end up paying substantially more than the purchase price of the timeshare.

based on what I've discovered exploring the web regarding timeshare loans the average annual percentage rate(APR) is 18.5%. So, if your timeshare cost $12k and you get a 5 year loan at average APR of 18.5%you will end up paying $18,479.83 for the timeshare($6,479.83 in interest). Add your annual maintenance fee's, which average about $500 per year($500 x 5 yrs = $2,500) and your looking at approx $9K in interest rates and fees for a $12K timeshare. In order for the average timeshare owner in this situation to break even they would have to sell for $21K, which will more likely than not be an impossibility.

I don't mean to paint such a bleak picture, but take my advice and get the timeshare loan paid off somehow and you will come out much better that if you continue to pay the high interest rate you mentioned.

Lightbulb Great Advice

Escaping the high interest rate charged by lenders affiliated with timeshare resorts is a excellent plan and can sincerely enable a potential timeshare seller to price the timeshare effectively in order to be successful in their resale endeavor.

Lightbulb Renting Out Your Timeshare Until Sold

Hi Tink,

There are many other timeshare sellers in the same situation that you're in. As I mentioned, take the advice of SlimSimmers and get out of the timeshare lenders hight interest rate, if you can, but also consider renting-out your timeshare while advertising it to be sold. This can be a great promotional tool, put some money in your pocket to assist with the expenses of timeshare ownership. Our timeshare RENTAL PROGRAM works for a lot of owners and depending on the week you're assigned and the resort you own, you can expect to get some type of acceptable offer. The renter is a potential timeshare buyer and getting them to the resort, enjoying the luxuries of ownership can many times lead to a sale. The renter is 'prepped' or many times aware of the savings offered on the resale market and are invited to make an offer to buy an advertised timeshare upon their return.

Take a look at what Timeshare Adventures has been able to do for our advertising clients. The links below display recent timeshare rental offers and actual sales and rentals:

If this FOR RENT UNTIL SOLD advertising option sounds good, Tink, contact your account executive or a customer service representative here at Timeshare Adventures for more details.

Default Thinking about changing timeshare resale companies

i'm seriously thinking about it...there's timeshare adventures and another company to help timeshare owners sell that I'm thinking of moving over to. i like this website a bit more because all the sincere the information found here. something found here on the site but no other timeshare resale company is their prices and services offered with the different options(renting-out or selling timeshare)! and accurately quoted by a rep i talked to was the same, i've been telemarketed by timeshare scammers that try to sell me at $900 or more then suddenly drop their price too $300...? what a turn-off...the price for service or advertising should not be negotiable when I say no!

any how, i am really thinking about changing companies. i NEED to sell my timeshare sooo bad! I think i'm just a little shy after no response or offers from the other company i hastily chose...wish i came here first.

Default Timeshare Resale Advertising Service Fees Posted?

Where are the prices you refer to, doop? I have tried to locate them and been unable to find any prices posted on the website for their advertising fees or services as you have mentioned. I have a timeshare and would interested in selling, but after similar telemarketers harassing me with ridiculous promises, I am quite skeptical to call for fear of further harassment.
